In remembrance of the Groningen soldiers who fell in Indonesia. A site here in city of Groningen to honour these former residents. A path along the banks of a pond. On the one side of the path a 120 metres long bench lodged like a ridge in the (raised) countryside, on the other side 136 names one after another engraved in one continuous strip – that’s all. Offering visitors the opportunity to sit down, at that one particular special name or just at random, catching the last rays of the day’s sunshine. Literally a time path, which one enters in the year of 1945 and leaves in 1962, passing all the names of the boys and men who fell during those years. A meeting place. Created in collaboration with Anne Hildering.
