[Z]OO pocket diary 1999>> | [Z]OO agenda 1999>>

The pocket diaries of [Z]OO always feature two characteristics: they are typographic delights and they refer in a (pseudo-)profound way to ‘time’. For this particular year I had a very simple idea in mind. I wanted to give the prior century a face – literally – by portraying exactly one hundred people, from the age of 99 (front cover) to 0 years old (back cover). Each week of the diary contains at least one of these portraits as we successively count down to zero. As the year progresses, the pictured people keep getting younger and younger, until we finally arrive at a newly born child: the new century. In cooperation with fellow photographer and designer Wim te Brake.

Pseudo-profound it indeed was.
